*Signet rings are used to make an impression in sealing wax which authenticates documents or personal papers. The design or words are right-reading in the impression, but reversed when viewed on the ring.

**The Lost Wax casting method is a process whereby a carved or cast wax original is encased in clay or other investment, the wax is melted under temperature and the resulting voids are filled with molten metal. The process has been used since early Egyptian times for casting fine metals where the highest level of detail was required.
From the 16th century German original now in the collection of the British Museum, this sterling silver signet ring* (also available as a necklace) asks after the peace of Jerusalem.

The phrase is from the Books of the Prophets. Its meaning is that one should ask or inquire from people who have traveled to Jerusalem about the state of the city and pray for its peace and safety.

More than 500 years after these words were first inscribed Jerusalem continues to search for its peace. The need is there for all of us to keep asking, and taking actions, towards the peace of the city and all its occupants.

Salaam - Shalom - Peace
